The Committee to Re-Elect Judge Elizabeth Starr, is writing to request your support in our efforts to Re-Elect Judge Elizabeth Starr on the County Court bench. Judge Starr has been a County Court Judge for seven years. Judge Starr initially spent her first four years as a Criminal Judge handling criminal cases, including misdemeanor criminal matters, DUI’s and other traffic violations. Judge Starr has spent the last three years as a Civil Judge handling claims up to $30,000 in controversy, including Small Claims cases, evictions, insurance disputes and debt collection cases.

Judge Starr is compassionate, fair, and applies the law to ensure the proper outcome. She began her career in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office, where she prosecuted criminal cases for over three years. For the next eleven years, she remained in public service by serving the citizens of central Florida as a Bureau Chief in the Economic Crimes and Consumer Fraud Division of the Florida Attorney General’s Office combating civil consumer and financial fraud, including price gouging during state of emergencies (i.e., hurricanes), civil racketeering, telemarketing scams and deceptive and unfair trade practices. Having extensive criminal and civil experience during her fourteen year career as an attorney, provides Judge Starr invaluable knowledge of both areas of the law. As County Court Judges commonly rotate to handle both criminal and civil cases in their career, Judge Starr’s dual experience makes her uniquely qualified for re-election.

Judge Starr was born and raised in Queens, NY and moved to Florida in 1999 where she met her husband. They started their family by adopting two children, Miley and Jake. Throughout her legal career in public service, Elizabeth has fought tirelessly to protect and serve her community.
